Punisher-Tested
To ensure performance, every Leupold product is impact-tested with the exclusive Punisher impact machine. The Punisher simulates a lifetime of use by replicating 3x the recoil of a .308 Winchester cartridge—if you shot a round with that much recoil, you’d probably be knocked unconscious. To ensure perfect performance, each new design must survive 5,000 impacts in the Punisher and still perform flawlessly. In addition to extreme impact resistance, Leupold optics are tested for all-climate performance, undergoing a series of tests at temperatures ranging from -40°F to 160°F. Once an optic passes this rigorous testing process, it is guaranteed to last a lifetime and offer best-in-class performance.
Custom Dial System
Another of Leupold’s innovations, the Custom Dial System, makes taking accurate, long-range shots simpler than ever before. When you purchase a scope eligible for CDS®, you’ll be able to order a free Custom Dial fine-tuned to your load, velocity, and shooting conditions (additional Custom Dials can be ordered from Leupold for $80). To receive a Custom Dial, all you need to do is find the cartridge you’d like a Custom Dial for and provide Leupold with your:

Cartridge and caliber

Bullet weight, brand, and type

Ballistic Coefficient (found on the ammunition box)

Muzzle velocity

Average temperature and elevation of the area you’ll shoot in

Sight height (measured from the center of the bore to the center of the scope)

Zero distance
With this information, Leupold will send you a Custom Dial laser-etched with your ballistics information and yardage marks.
Once you’ve received your Custom Dial, just attach it to your CDS-compatible Leupold scope, range the target, turn the dial to that distance, and aim with the center of the reticle. This allows you to quickly find your ideal point of aim, eliminating the complicated math of ballistics or estimating how much you need to hold over. Since you won’t have to spend crucial moments making adjustments and compensating for bullet drop, a CDS scope is an incredibly valuable asset for hunters.
The Custom Dial System is available with several popular Leupold scopes, including the Leupold VX-Freedom 3–9x40 CDS Scope, the Leupold VX-3i 3.5–10x40mm CDS-ZL Scope, and the Leupold VX-6HD 4–24x52 CDS-TZL3 Scope.
