PING s259 Wedge

The new s259 wedges build on the higher spin and control attributes of the Tour-winning s159 family. New grind refinements and loft additions give golfers of all abilities improved precision and versatility with a Tour-preferred look, feel and sound.
Wheel-cut grooves in the s259 wedges are precision-milled to varying dimensions, depending on loft. The 54-to-62-degree options feature more tightly spaced MicroMax grooves. The 46-to-52-degree wedges have a 20-degree sidewall, milled to maximize groove volume for greater control on full shots. A friction-adding face blast helps deliver the launch and spin control to play with precision from all distances. The E-grind was re-shaped in the s259 to give it a more familiar look at address while maintaining high performance from the sand and slightly-open-faced shots. The s259 T grind features a steeper trail edge, allowing the face to sit very low on open-face shots. In the s259 W grind, 50° and 52° lofts have been added to best fit golfers with steeper angles of attack in need of a lower-lofted wedge to optimize gapping.
New optimized loft offerings enhance player confidence and versatility.
Each PING wedge loft is designed to excel in certain situations. Lower-lofted s259 wedges (46°-50°) combine a straighter leading edge with a lower and more centered CG. This creates better gapping and blending into PING iron sets. Middle lofts in the s259 wedge family (50°-54°) employ a full-length bottom groove and higher CG to help with distance control and off-speed wedge shots. The higher-lofted s259 wedges (56°-62°) leverage more visual offset and a smaller hosel to give golfers more confidence when manipulating the clubface around the greens.
Grind Breakdown:
- “H” or Half-Moon Grind - A shot-saving option for players with steeper angles of attack who like to manipulate the handle and play with versatility. It performs best in softer conditions. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- “B” Grind - For a shallow angle of attack and neutral face delivery. Low-bounce design sits low on the turf on square face shots, providing forgiveness via the sole width to deliver score-lowering performance in firmer conditions. Available in 58°, 60°
- “T” Grind - Our most versatile option allows players to manipulate the face for shot-making precision around the greens. Ideal for medium to firm turf conditions. We’ve added a 62-degree at the request of our tour pros for more versatility. Available in 58°, 60°, 62° (new)
- “W” Grind - Maximum forgiveness through the turf. Best fits a steep angle of attack who might also have a lot of handle lean and a player who prefers the look of a specialty wedge but relies on a little more forgiveness in their scoring clubs. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- “E” or Eye2 Grind - Continues to be the ultimate bunker club, carrying on a 40-year tradition of helping golfers get up and down from the sand. It plays with relatively low bounce on square or slightly open face shots. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
- “S” Grind - Fits a wide variety of conditions and techniques. Designed with ample bounce in the mid-section to play full shots and provides greenside versatility due to heel/trail edge relief. New 48-degree option helps in gapping. Available in 46°, 48° (new), 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°

Golf Wedges Explained
Golf Wedges Explained
What’s the Difference Between Wedges?
Wedges vary by loft, which affects how high the ball flies and how far it travels. Higher lofted wedges produce higher, shorter shots, while lower lofted wedges provide longer distances and a lower ball flight.
Choosing the Right Wedge
A pitching wedge is the most common type of wedge with a loft ranging from 44° to 49°. Below is a general breakdown of the other three types:
- Sand Wedge: This is ideal for getting out of sand traps and tall grass with a loft range of 54° to 58°.
- Gap Wedge: This wedge “bridges the gap” between a pitching and a sand wedge with a loft between 50° to 54°.
- Lob Wedge: Designed for precision shots, this wedge has a loft range between 59° to 65°.
